 The Power of Durable Riches

What are Bible Durable Riches

The Bible talks about two kinds of durable riches. Both are of God. Jesus mentioned them both in Matthew 6:19-20, Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is there will your heart be also.

Jesus is talking about earthly riches in comparison to the real eternal riches. How we use earthly riches determines how eternal riches are laid up in our heavenly accounts. Jesus did not say that we are not to have earthy riches, He said not to lay them up. We are to use them in the kingdom of God.

God mentions earthly durable riches through out the Bible. He says that the earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof, the hidden treasures of the deep. The gold is mine and the silver is mine and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.

In the beginning we see that God gave gold for Adam and Abram to enjoy and He called gold good. Genesis 2:11, The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

Genesis 2:12 And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

Genesis 13:2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

We see in the above scripture that Abram (Abraham) was very rich in cattle, in silver and in gold. God also gave him land for his cattle and flocks. (God will always provide Himself a sacrifice.) God also gave Abraham servants.

Genesis 24:35, And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.

Genesis 24:53, And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.

The above scriptures are referring to the gifts that Abraham sent with his servant out of his wealth when he sent for a wife for his son Isaac. God had blessed Abraham greatly with herds, silver, gold, menservants, maidservants, and livestock.

Abraham was sending a message back to his homeland, "All is well, God has abundantly blessed me."

The things that have been mentioned so far are what the Bible calls Durable Riches, and they have power. They should be passed down from generation to generation. Abraham’s riches were his calling card. They let the family of Isaac’s bride know that she would be well provided for in his family.

God uses His riches in the earth today for the same purpose. The body of Christ is to display God’s durable riches for others to see to let them know that we serve a rich God and that He provides well for His family and servants. We are the bride of Christ.

All of these riches that have been mentioned have stood the test of time. They have been handed forward from generation to generation. They belong to God and are used to provide for His family in the earth.

The problem is they have fallen into the hands of selfish men and women, who are storing them up for themselves for a future. The Bible states that these durable riches will be shaken form the hands of these people and given to the just who will use them according to God’ will in the earth. Jesus said not to lay up for yourselves treasures on earth. God’s riches should be put to use to bring His will to pass in the earth.

Haggai 2:6-9, For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; 7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. 9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

This scripture has two meanings. It is referring to earthly and heavenly durable riches. In Hebrews 12:26-28 the writer refers to this scripture concerning our heavenly kingdom. But in Haggai it is referring to silver and gold in the earth. God is going to put His silver and gold, and other durable riches in the hands of His people to do His work in the earth.

God’s riches shall be used by His people until the day that we are taken away from the wrath to come, known as the catching away of the Church and even in eternity. Jesus mentioned this in Matthew Chapter 24:37-47.

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. 45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

God has His riches on earth for a reason. Wisdom has durable riches in her hand ready to distribute to and through God’s children that know His ways.

In the book of Exodus God gives instructions as to how silver and gold are to be used. He told His people to borrow jewels of silver and gold from the Egyptians shortly before He brought them out of the house of bondage.

When they were in the wilderness, God told them to bring free will offerings of the silver and gold that they had borrowed from the Egyptians and make Him a tabernacle, a place for him to dwell with them. (God always provides Himself a sacrifice.)

Nothing has changed today. When God blesses His children in the earth with His riches, He is doing it for a purpose and will call for them at some point to be used as He instructs. It could be right in the middle of a wilderness experience. So be ready to hand them over.

It will be a test to see who will obey Him and who will not. To those that obey, He will pour out of His treasures, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, blessings that are to many to be received.

You can take these blessings to the bank. They will be durable riches that you can hand forward to your children’s children. One man or women that is obedient to God can change the destiny of His family forever. Abraham did and so can you.

Now look at what God’s people did in the wilderness when Moses went up to receive the Ten Commandments. The word says that they sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play. They took gold and made a graven image and begin to worship it. They were using God’s gold against Him. It cost many of them their lives. (Exodus Chapter 32)

I Corinthians 10:5-7, But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

What is God saying to us today through these examples? Those who use God’s durable riches for the kingdom of God’s sake will be blessed abundantly, but those who will not shall be consumed and overthrown by the world and its financial system. It will consume their families, their wealth, there houses and everything they have.

This worldly financial system is going down and those who are apart of it are going down with it. As sinking ships in the stormy seas and as a house built on sand, this worldly system is going down and great shall be the destruction of it. Jesus said, A house divided against itself cannot stand. Great will be the fall of any house that is built on the sand.

Too much evil exists in this worldly financial system for it to continue as it is. Men, women, and corporations are hoarding up money, keeping it from the just. Some of the top corporations of the world have billions and billions of dollars in cash funds.

They have so much money stored, the stockholders of these companies are demanding their money be put to work so they can make more money.

Jesus said that the wisdom of the world is wiser than the wisdom of the children of light. At least they know how to make money by putting it to work. Well, God does not want His riches stored up in barns for the future. He wants them in operation at all times fulfilling his will in the earth.

At the time of this writing there are 950 billionaires in the United States. If they all would give only five percent of their wealth annually, one billion people could be taken out of poverty. As we read in Haggai chapter 2, God is going to shake His gold and silver out of the nations into the hands of the Body of Christ. This is the house where God has chosed to place His name and where the riches will come.
