Another Priest

Hebrews 5:6-7 "Thou are a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Who in the days of his flesh when he had offerd up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared."

Unlike the priest in Malachi who prayed with weeping and were not heard because they did not fear God, Jesus who is a priest after the order of Melchisedec was heard because he feared.

If we are going to have God hear us we too must take our example after Jesus and pray with all of our might from a heart that fears God. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16)

I John 5:14 states, "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will he hearth us." His will is that whatsoever we do in word and deed do it in love with all of our might. Faith gets through to God. I John 3: 21-22 states, "Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God, and whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. What God is saying, If you will fear, I will hear. The priest in the book of Malachi did not fear God and he did not hear their prayers.

If we have not given God our best, is not the reason because we do not have the revelation that God's grace really is sufficient and that He has the ability and longing desire to put us over and cause us to always triumph in Christ.

Was not the revelation that Paul had concerning God's grace the strength of his success in Christ. He said, " I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13)

When Jesus spoke personally to Paul these words, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness", they became branded upon his heart. The Spirit of God has been sent to speak these words personally to each of us that they may also be burned into hour hearts.

Listen to the words of Paul concerning his trust in Christ, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

Paul was speaking through experience. Paul daily faced trouble on every side. Paul was even left for dead and the Lord raised him up. Paul knew that he was in the earth until he had finished his course. He had the boldness to say in one place that he would much rather be with Christ, but for the furtherance and joy of your faith I continue on in the earth.

How far could a man grow in God with this revelation burning within him? Why, he could do all thing through Christ who strengthens him.
