Section I
The Introduction
The book of James is written to the twelve tribes who had an understanding of the old covenant law.  Therefore, James used portions of it to communicate to the church for main points:

  • Section I  Divers Temptations.  They were expected to endure these temptations.  However. as the books reveals, they had fallen into them.
  • Section II  What faith is and how it is to be used.  Selfish or selfless faith.
  • Section III  Judgment.  James plainly states that Christians shall be judged by the perfect law of liberety in two areas - What we say and what we do. (the tongue and works)
  • Section IV  God's mercy to those who endure.

The book of James is also laced with various commands and exhortations, calling for acceptable service to God and proper use of money for the kingdom of God.  The message has not changed, saying the same to all that call upon His name, being confirmed by both new and old testiments scriptures.

The sum of the message in one word is OBEDIENCE.   Love is obedience.  Faith is obedience. Hope is the end of obedience.

Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart personally in this study.  He will cause your walk with God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ to be enchaced.  He is the great teacher of hearts.  He is the glorifier of the Son.  He is the unction that abides in us.  He is able to do exceeding abundantly above that which we ask or think.  It is he that both wills and works in us the good pleasure of the Father until we are conformed to Christ.  When people see us they see Jesus.  All things are possible to God and to those who believe in his ability to do the impossible concerning man.

The key to obedience is HUMILITY.  A proud man lacks wisdom.  A humble man has found the beginning of wisdom, which will cause him to endure in serving God with his time and finances in an acceptable manner.  Wisdom offers a crown of life.  He that humbles himself in this life to the will of God shall find God's life.

The apostle Paul was a man who walked in wisdom according to his own testimony to Timothy, his beloved son in the gospel:  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is  laid up for me a corwn of righteousness, which the Lord, the rightous judge shall give me at that day and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (II Timothy 4:7-8)
