The covenant of two sons is the term that the Lord used to explain in more detail what happened in the covenant between Himself and Abraham. The word states, God preached before the gospel to Abraham.

In other words Abraham knew exactly what was being asked of him when God asked him to enter into covenant with Him. The reason I know this is because Abraham was called a friend of God. Jesus said to His disciples that I have called you friends because I have told you everything that the Father has told me. Abraham knew what was going on.

Galatians 3:8, And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

He knew that this covenant would restore the fallen state of man back to the Garden of Eden and better. He knew that he must offer his only son Isaac on the alter. He knew that God must do the same thing with His only Son Jesus. It was all to be done in faith.

A covenant that covers sin requires the shedding of blood of the first born covenant son of both parties. It is mind boggling to think of the responsibility that God placed on Abraham's shoulders. Man's eternal existence in the presence of God depended upon his obedience.

Abraham said, Ok Lord Let's Get it Done. Notice the following scriptures, Hebrews 11:17, By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son.

James 2:21, Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

When God saw Abraham's faith, He stopped him a second before killing his son Isaac. At that moment God took an oath that He would do the same with His Son who was yet to be born.

Genesis 22:15, And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Hebrews 6:13, For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

Because of Abraham's faith in God in that he offered his only son Isaac, God substituted a lamb in his place. It was because of Abraham's faith that God could now bring in the Law at the appointed time which would allow a lamb to be offered for a family’s sin instead of the first born son.

As far as God was concerned, Abraham actually stuck his son with a knife and burned his body on the alter. That is what it means when the Bibles says, Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. His seed was protected from the wages of sin, which is death. The blood of animals could now be substituted until the blood of Jesus was shed, which remitted sin forever.

We even see this substitute in Egypt when God told each family of His people to put the blood of a lamb over the door post of their houses. The Egyptians had no covenant with God and each family loss the first born son that night. (Exodus Chapter 12)

From the time Abraham offered his son Isaac on the alter, each time there was a lamb sacrificed for sin, God saw the Blood of two sons. He looked to the past and saw the blood of Isaac because of Abraham’s faith and He looked to the future and saw the blood of His only son Jesus. The word says that He remembered His covenant that he had with Abraham.

Abraham knew what he was going to do and he also knew what God was going to do. He told his son Isaac when he asked him where was the lamb to be sacrificed, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering. (Genesis 22:8) Abraham did not know God would also provide his lamb as well.

The amazing thing about this is Abraham's faith. Without faith there would have been a murder that day. If Abraham had been acting if fear, God could not have stopped him from taking the life of Isaac.

God told Abraham to take a three day journey and offer His son. God could have told Abraham to go out in his backyard and offer his son. Why did God send Abraham on a three day trip? It was apart of the test. Abraham had to have time to consider what God asked him to do.

What Abraham thought about those three days determined the outcome. If Abraham had been thinking doubt and unbelief there would have been a murder that day. But Abraham considered God faithful and able to perform what He had promised.

There will always be a time (test) to consider God's promises before they manifest. If we consider them wisely, we will have them. If we consider them unwisely, we will not have them. It takes faith to manifest God's promises. God sware by Himself that He will not bless doubt and unbelief.

Abraham went fully intending to slay Isaac and watch God raise him from the dead because the promise he had from God was, "In thy seed shall all the families be blessed." He also knew that God must raise His Son Jesus from the dead at the appointed time for the plan to work.

Hebrews 11:19, Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

Abraham did his part and God did His part and man now has the victory. Now we must do our part and tell people about it.

God stretched Abraham's faith that day. You can read the account in Genesis 22:1-18. This is the only way that faith can grow. You can hear all the word you want but until you obey the impossible task that God is asking you to do, your faith will stay as it is.

You say, What does this have to do with God's wealth for my life? Just stay in tune with the Spirit of God, He is going to ask you to do something concerning giving that will make you sweat.

Once you do it, you will be sure to stay serious about you faith because it will take God to pull it off. If you are willing and obedient you shall eat from the good of the land. God will never ask you to do something beyond your ability to believe him for the results.

Faith separates believers and doubters, those that are blessed and those that are cursed, those that live and those that die. God took an oath by Himself that He will not bless doubt, only faith can he bless.

Hebrews 3:18, And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

The good news is that if you are born again, you have in you right now a seed measure of your father Abraham's faith. Jesus is the author and finisher of your faith. Put your trust in Him and He will see you through.
