The Apostle Paul make this statement before King Agrippa when the king asked him to speak on his own behalf in Acts 10:8, "Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

This is the attitude that Paul had concerning God raising the dead at his hand. Remember where Paul preached all night at one place and a young man fell out of an upstairs window and died. Paul went down and raised that young man from the dead. Paul did not have a special anointing to raise the dead. He knew that this power to raise the dead came with his assignment. It came with his commission. It was on the inside of him.

Now look in Matthew chapter 10 where Jesus commissioned the twelve disciples to go to the lost sheep of Israel. In verse 8 Jesus told them to Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Verse 1 says that He gave them this power. In verse 2, He named the ones that had been given this power. The entire chapter is their instructions. He told them that they would not have gone to all the cities in Israel before He came to them again. In other words until He caught up with them again. Matthew 11: 1 states, When Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

They went one way and He went another, but they were all doing the same thing. He expanded His ministry. Now he had 12 others doing the same thing that He was doing. They were all using the same power in different bodies in different places in Israel.

The power to raise the dead never left them. Notice in Acts 9:36-43, there was a disciple named Tabitha who died. Peter was called for and went and raised her from the dead causing many in Joppa to believe in the Lord.

In Acts chapter 11 we see Peter being sent to the house of Cornelius to extend this power and salvation to the Gentiles. The same power that was on Peter fell on the Gentiles, which is us. It is still here today waiting to be called upon to raise the dead, heal the sick, cast out devils and preach the gospel to the poor. This power is available to the very least member in the body of Christ.

There are different degrees of faith that will call upon this power. Let me give you a Faith-O-Meter.

  • No Faith - People that do not believe in this power.
  • Little Faith – People that call on the greatest in the kingdom of God pray for them to release this power.
  • Strong Faith – People that call on the least in the kingdom of God to pray for them and release this power.
  • Great Faith – People that call on no man. They get it for themselves speaking the word only and release this power.
