Praying For Our Nation
On the early morning of September 26, 2008, I had two dreams,
which sparked me to do something that I have never done before. God instructed my wife and I to close our business for the
day and dedicate the entire day to praying for our nation. This was a day that our leaders had to make God given decisions
in order to save our nation from financial disaster. The scriptures that God instructed us to pray are in II Kings Chapters
18-20. As we studied the scriptures above we saw exactly what to pray and speak over our nation in troubled times.
Hezekiah, king of Judah was a man that followed the Lord’s commandments
according to his father David.
II Kings 3-7 states, And
he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.
4
He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that
Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
5 He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like
him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.
6
For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
7 And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went
forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
Because of Hezekiah’s commitment to the Lord and rebelling against
the king of Assyria, which by the way is a type and shadow of Satan and his kingdom, the king of Assyria came against Hezekiah
and exalted himself against God, saying that God could not deliver him from his hand. The king of Assyria even told the people
under Hezekiah that if they served him they would be well taken care of. The king of Assyria also required king Hezekiah,
king of Judah, to pay him silver and gold. Through fear Hezekiah gave over all of the silver and gold from the house of the
Lord and the kings house right down to the over lay on the doors and pillars.
We
must pray that the leaders of our nation not be moved with fear and give this nation over to the Assyrian and his system
of finance. Our nation is a godly nation and God is the provider of our nation not this worldly financial system which is
destined to fail. We must pray that the leadership of our nation be granted wisdom to make godly and right decisions in this
present time of trouble.
II Kings 19:3 stated
by Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth and
there is not strength to bring forth. Our nation is in a weak
state right now. We must pray that the leadership have strength to give birth to the answers that will lead us back into a
strong nation. The word says, Let the weak say, I am strong. This is a time of correction or rebuke as the above scripture
states that we not blaspheme God.
The reason this country is
in trouble financially is because we have turned away from God as our provision and turned to the greed of the worldly financial
system as our supply. Big banks have become greedy and are now paying the price.
This
nation and the leadership of this nation must trust God to deliver us from the hand of the Assyrian. We have no business trying
to patch up a failing system. We need a new system that is God ordained, birthed through the prayer of His saints from the
truth of His word. Psalms 20:1-2 states The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob
defend thee; 2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion… Praying
saints are the strength from the sanctuary and it is our prayers that are going to strengthen the leadership of our strong
nation.
As we see in II Kings Chapter 19 Hezekiah prayed and
the Lord heard his words and delivered the nation of Judah out of the hand of the Assyrian. His great army was destroyed by
one angel, 185,000 men, in one night while they slept and the king of Assyria was slain by his own sons.
We also need to pray that the leadership of our nation play their hand close the
to the chest. In other words we as a nation do not need to let the entire world in on our success, treasuries and riches,
or our strength of armor.
Notice
II Kings 20 where the king of Babylon, sent gifts to Hezekiah because he heard that he was sick near unto death. (Hezekiah
prayed again and God healed him and granted him 15 more years.) The king of Babylon was setting him up, inquiring of all of
his wealth and riches and armor. In the following portion of scripture we read,
At
that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard
that Hezekiah had been sick.
13 And Hezekiah hearkened unto
them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices,
and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there
was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
14
Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee?
And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
15
And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen:
there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
16
And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
17
Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall
be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
18
And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs
in the palace of the king of Babylon.
Because Hezekiah
had been so generous with information he fell captive to the king of Babylon, which by the way is a type and shadow of the
worldly system of finance of ungodly nations. Again, we need to pray that the leadership of our nation have wisdom in this
area so we can keep what is ours. We need to pray the wealth that has been given to ungodly nations back in to our nation.
God is our provider, not the Babylonian system of finance.
Now
notice in the closing verses about Hezekiah’s life in II Kings 20:!9 how he was deceived into believing a lie concerning
peace and truth. Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said,
Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
The answer to the question that Hezekiah asked is NO, it
is not good for our riches and son and daughters to be given over to this worldly system of evil finance. We will not sacrifice
our sons and daughters because we did not pray for the leadership of our great nation. LET US PRAY, NOW.
Remember when
praying for our great nation, always pray the ANSWER. Never pray the problem. Find scriptures in the word of God concerning
our nation and pray God’s word to Him. These are the prayers that are sure to be answered. Speak God’s word over
this nation. He will quickly perform His word. Jeremiah 1:12, Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will
hasten my word to perform it.
