Chapter 1
Locating The Heart
Where Your Treasure Is
Text Scripture: Luke 12:34, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Isaiah 55:6: Seek the Lord While He may Be found. Call upon Him while He is near.
If man chooses to seek God Ephesians 5:9 tells us exactly where to find our treasure,
"For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth." Many people seek God in many ways, but
He is sure to be found in all goodness and righteousness and truth.
Jesus said also in Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
Romans 14:17 states, For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God and approved of men."
Surrounding verses of Ephesians 5:9 stated above tell us to walk as children of light
proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather
reprove them.
Another scripture showing man where to seek the kingdom of God is found in Luke 17:20-21,
"The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here!, or low there! for, behold, the kingdom
of God is within you."
As we live our lives in all goodness, righteousness and truth, Christ will be manifest
unto us from glory to glory, even by the Spirit of God. Jesus said in John 16: 13-15, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of
truth is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall
he speak: and he shall receive of mine, and show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore
said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you." The Father is going to show you His kingdom through
the Holy Spirit as Christ directs.
Colossian 2:3 tells us that in Christ are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Ephesians 5:17 states, "Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."
Titus 2:11 - 14 gives us clear understanding of the will of the Lord. "For the
grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we
should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing
of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify
unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority.
Let no man despise thee."
Maintaining Good Works
We are to exhort one another to maintain good works until the Lord returns.
If we are not careful to mainltain good works the only other option is evil works of which the scripture says to avoid
at all cost. Jesus said that if your eye offend thee pluck it out for it is better to enter into the kingdom of God
blind than to go into eternal darkness with sight. Note the following scriptures that exhort believers to maintain good
works.
Titus 3:8 states, "This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm
constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are profitable
unto men." Verse 14 states, "And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful."
Our father is a husbandman and is looking for good fruit in due season.
Roman 2:28 tells us that in time past God gave people over to a reprobate mind to do
those things which are not convenient because they did not like to retain God in their knowledge.
Hosea 4:6 states a quote from God saying, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten
the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore
will I change their glory into shame."
Romans 8:6-7, "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life
and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be."
Galatians 6:7-8 states, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man
soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth
to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life and peace."
If we sow into ourselves we will reap from ourselves but if we sow into God through His
spirit, we will reap from God through His Spirit.
