Things Wanting
The apostle Paul left Titus in Crete to do two things according to Titus 1:5, which states, "For
this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain
elders in every city, as I have appointed thee..." Why did he say to ordain elders? To teach holiness by word
and deed!
I Thessalonians 3:10-13 states..."That we might see your face, and might perfect that which is
lacking in your faith? Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. And
the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: to
the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father at the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ with all his saints." What is lacking in our faith? Holiness!
The Apostle Paul told Timothy in II Timothy 2:2, "And the things that thou hast heard of me among
many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also." What things? Paul
lifestyle of holiness.!
People must be taught holiness by faithful men and women who have learned themselves to possess
their vessels in sanctification and honour.
I Thessalonians 4:3-4 states, "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye
should abstain from fornication: That ever one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification
and honour..." We are still talking about things that we should know.
We are warned of false teachers in the last days that will come in and deceive whole households
that are not grounded in the faith.
Titus 1:10 states, For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially
they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for
filthy lucre's sake."
Once a person has been saved by the blood of Christ through faith, the most important message
is learning to walk in holiness. The stakes are high in this area. Without holiness, No Man Will See The
Lord. (Hebrews 12:14)
The reason that holiness is wanting is because it has not been taught in the degree
that the Bible says to teach it. It has not been spoken, exhorted and rebuked with all authority.
People will begin to perfect holiness once the fear of God comes upon us. We need to understand
that our God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:29) He will consume sin out of our
households if we are exercised by his chastening.
